In the last several years, data backup needs have exploded, driven by the incredible growth of the Internet. Quantum brings you Super DLTtape™ system for backup and archive storage in mid-range UNIX and Windows NT systems for tape library automation and large corporate departments.

Building on the successful DLTtape™ platform and magnetic tape technology, Quantum extends the standard with embedded, table-top and library versions of Super DLTtape drives, with 110GB of storage capacity and an 11MBps sustained data transfer rate (native mode). It is backward read compatible with DLT 4000, DLT 7000 and DLT 8000 drives using DLTtape IV cartridge media. In Super DLTtape drives and cartridges, Quantum presents numerous technical innovations: Laser Guided Magnetic Recording, Pivotal Optical Servo, Magneto-Resistive Cluster heads, a high-efficiency Partial Response Maximum Likelihood channel and Advanced Metal Powder media. All ensure that Quantum DLTtape technology will continue as the industry-standard platform for long-term scalability in future mid-range/enterprise storage, with more than 1TB of storage capacity per data cartridge and up to a 100MBps data transfer rate.
